Herb Magic: Can Green Tea Control Acne?

CropperCapture[20].jpgFor thousands of years, the Chinese have used green tea as a remedy for all kinds of ailments, but in the fairly recent past, the Western world has finally woken up to the marvels of green tea, and, wonder of wonders, we have learnt that green tea is an excellent natural remedy for acne. Get a load of this: “Recent results of a study presented to the American Academy of Dermatologists and conducted by Dr Jennifer Gan-Wong of the Memorial Medical Center in the Philippines find that green tea topically applied to the skin appears to work as well as benzoyl peroxide to control acne.”

Unwelcome Blush: Introducing Acne Rosacea

acne-rosacea.jpgActually, the term to use is not acne rosacea, but simply rosacea, because this is not strictly a form of acne. It is more an acne-like eruption that makes your face look like it’s in a permanently blushing state. The weirdest thing (in my opinion) about rosacea is that it mostly affects white-skinned people in northwestern Europe, and is sometimes described as the ‘curse of the Celts’ by the Irish. So you may get rosacea simply because you’re born into a certain community? Well, kind of.

All Made-Up: Do Cosmetics Affect Acne?

Acne and MakeupYou know what? The best thing for those suffering from acne appears to be to avoid make-up altogether. And I consider that a totally nothing option. I mean, how unfair can life get? However, the sad truth is that some kinds of make-up appear to affect acne in nasty ways. Therefore, my fellow acne sufferers would be well advised to stay away from them.

And what are these types? Well, oily and greasy creams and ointments exacerbate (this is such a peculiarly appropriate word for acne, but I foolishly digress) acne because they clog the hair follicles and we all know what that means. And don’t be fooled by products that say ‘tested by dermatologists’, because there’s nothing to indicate that these suit your skin type.

Basic facts about taking care of pimples

It is preferable to take the following steps when we are dealing with pimples:

The first step to begin with is a mild cleansing of the skin. We have discussed it, but it is necessary to emphasize the subject. Cleansing with hydrophilic cleanser cleans the skin gently without irritating the sebaceous gland, increase redness and create dryness. This step is standard for every skin care routine since it does makes the difference in the skin reflection and feel, and is also essential in reducing pimples.

The minute you will stop using dry soaps that irritate and block the pores or heavy duty soaps, you will see how wonderful your skin feels and looks; you will also notice that it isn't dry and irritating; you will never go back to your old ways. Make sure that the hydrophilic cleanser you have chosen doesn't contain irritating substance and doesn't dry your skin. Disinfecting. There are not many options for skin disinfection. Alcohol (when using it in the right concentration) and sulfur can be good disinfectors, but they are drying and irritating the skin too much.
