This letter is sent to me by a friend of mine, he talks about his experience of acne treatment. I personally prevented my acne by pills but I will be happy to know what your experience say:
You have to make a distinction here: do you want to treat acne or control it? The funny thing is that in most cases, the two are interlinked so that you can’t do one without the other. The weirdest thing about acne, in fact, is that it is not really curable, but you can control it so that the attack doesn’t have time to gather steam, and you are never more than mildly affected.
Yes, you can go to a dermatologist and s/he will prescribe topical or oral medications that will repress the acne for a while, but you can never be sure that these will permanently eliminate your acne. I know of people who have actually suffered relapses once they have discontinued treatment. I myself never really went in for medication because my doctor told me that it would most probably be really long-term.
No, I think a better way to treat acne is to control it using non-medical methods, such as proper skincare, and a balanced diet. Yes, for those who suffer things like stress-related acne, there may be a need for anti-depressants or some medications that work on the cause of the acne rather than the acne itself.
However, I have found that washing at least twice a day, not using oil-based cosmetics, drinking plenty of water, getting regular exercise, and eating lots of fruit and vegetables have made a great impact on my acne. So unless you absolutely need medication, I would advise to explore other options, which may last your lifetime, but at least they will improve your general health. And sue me if that doesn’t positively affect your acne.
so, what are you saying ?
