Acne is the most common and problematic skin disorder caused by hormonal shifts in individuals leading to clogged pores, oily skin, inflammation and cysts. Medication is one treatment considered useful but using over the counter medicine is known to create more side effects rather than prove to be beneficial.

In this case herbal treatment is recommended which is considerably more useful and gets the job done in a quicker and skin friendly manner. Some generic remedies for acne include the use of tea tree oil. According to research the herb was used originally by aborigines as an antiseptic holding anti bacterial properties. Tea tree oil is best for curing infections and works as well as benzoyl peroxide. It is known to be a remedy for skin problems such as warts, boils, pimples and fungal infections. The homemade acne treatment includes blending the tea tree oil with equal parts of water. This mixture can be applied directly onto the affected area one or two times a day.

Thyme is another powerful herb popular for being an all in one healing medicine. Thyme contains changeable oils that functions with strong substance known as antimicrobial agent which eliminates the development of bacterial organisms. The herb is quite handy for people suffering from acne since it destroys the germ at the core with its anti fungal, disinfectant elements to avoid outbreaks of acne and keep the skin clear. One adequate homemade treatment involves making a face wash out of at least one teaspoon of dried thyme leaves that should be left in the water for around twenty minutes. A dried piece of cloth can also be dipped into the mixture and then placed on the face for about fifteen minutes. After this the face can be washed with warm water.

Burdock is known as a roadside herbal weed that is especially helpful for the painful acne such as boils, pimples or itchiness that refuses to go away. Preparing pickled burdock as a daily refresher can provide the best results. Another technique is to make tea for drinking to greatly reduce the acne condition.

Oatmeal has emerged as a natural beauty product that is used to treat skin ailments such as acne and pimples. In the recent years it has gained popularity in the form of oatmeal masks and oatmeal products. You have two kinds of oatmeal to use; the colloidal oatmeal or the cooked oatmeal. With the colloidal oatmeal, you would have to crush and mill it into a fine powder form and cooked oatmeal; you can simply apply it onto face.

Its not at all difficult to prepare oatmeal facial mask or scrub at home as all you got to do is get the preferred form of oatmeal and have a grinder, a washcloth and distilled water with you. Once you prepare the oatmeal, keep it in bulky amounts so that you could use it for two weeks or more. If you prefer using the powder form, it can be stored more easily. Get oatmeal and grind it with a coffee mill or a grinder and get it into fine powder form. Put that in lukewarm water and then apply it on to face. However, make sure you don’t rub the skin extensively with that, instead just keep it on for some time and then gently pat the skin with a soft towel. If you are suffering from acne, you will have to be very cautious of not rubbing at the acne itself as that will create further irritations.

For cooked oatmeal, you simply have to buy packet oatmeal, cook it, allow it to cool and when it is just lukewarm, apply it as a facial mask. When the oatmeal becomes dry and crusty on the face, then wash it off with lukewarm water. Oatmeal used in either way is excellent for acne treatment. You can also use it as a facial cleaner or a facial scrub by mixing uncooked oatmeal with warm water and then smoothing it over your face, at the same time scrubbing it with a soft washcloth. Eat fresh vegetables and stick to the oatmeal treatment for a few weeks. Do not miss out any day if you want effective results.

Asian people, especially the Chinese and Japanese believe in the magical power of water and therefore they drink at least 8 glasses of water a day, and this is the reason why most Asians are free from acne. The body produces a lot of toxins through out the day and those could be potentially dangerous toxins if not released. When you do not have ample water, the toxins start finding ways to get out of the body through the skin, and this is where you usually end up with acne.
Water is a flushing system for your body. It washes through your system and helps you release the toxins through out the day, thus leaving your skin healthy and glowing. The secret to a fresh, healthy looking skin has always been the consumption of water. When you drink enough water, internal organs get the refreshment to work well. Without water your body will try to work harder than usual and that is where you get a sense of dryness and dehydration; for acne prone people, this is a bad situation.
The regular count of drinking water is either 8 glasses a day, 3 liters a day or half of the bodyweight in ounces a day. This doesn’t mean that you should end up consuming more than needed water as this will make you loose valuable minerals too. As it is a fact that an excess of something is always bad, no matter how good or beneficial that object is.
Drink boiled water up to 7 glasses a day and you will gradually see the acne’s reducing. It is though not at all a magical cure for acne; it is just a path for reducing acne affects. Maintain a fresh diet consisting of vegetables and fruits plus water and you will see that your skin will start to glow. Even people with severe conditions should adapt to this method of drinking water, as it will help remove most of the build up toxins in the body. But make sure that you drink boiled, purified healthy water and not tap water, which itself consists of toxins. Drink well, eat well and live well.

For thousands of years, the Chinese have used green tea as a remedy for all kinds of ailments, but in the fairly recent past, the Western world has finally woken up to the marvels of green tea, and, wonder of wonders, we have learnt that green tea is an excellent natural remedy for acne. Get a load of this: “Recent results of a study presented to the American Academy of Dermatologists and conducted by Dr Jennifer Gan-Wong of the Memorial Medical Center in the Philippines find that green tea topically applied to the skin appears to work as well as benzoyl peroxide to control acne.”

Dr Gan-Wong conducted her study in 2006, which seems to have been a good year for the battle against acne generally, because in August, an article appeared in the Archives of Dermatology quoting Dr Hasan Mukhtar and his team, who said, “There may be some green tea benefits in human skin products.” Dr Mukhtar is a professor and director of research in the dermatology department of Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.

Such are the learned ladies and gentlemen who have taken the fight to acne. The thought alone does me a load of good. But that’s digressing from the subject of green tea and acne. Research has proved green tea to be a powerful antioxidant particularly rich in a substance called epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), which fights bacteria and eliminates free radicals. This in turn reduces the eruption of blackheads and zits, and keeps pores unclogged.

For me, the best thing about green tea is that it can be used in any form – applied locally as a cream, swallowed as a pill, or simply drunk as tea. And it performs the same functions each time – fights bacteria, detoxifies, and kills free radicals. With such potent anti-acne weapons, who wouldn’t try green tea as an acne antidote?

I’m seriously puzzled about this one. Does eating chocolate cause acne? Little knowledge, they say, is a dangerous thing, but this is one case where I may have acquired more knowledge than I know what to do with. So one thing I do know: science is yet to establish a clear link between specific foods and acne, which is a huge relief, of course, because you can no longer say that chocolate causes acne per se, only that it causes acne in some people. The Journal of the American Medical Association says, “Diet plays no role in acne treatment in most patients…even large amounts of certain foods have not clinically exacerbated acne.” So there.

That, I think, is the trick. I have read of beauticians who report that clients (women, mostly) who eat more meat are apparently more prone to acne. Here’s how: acne is a result of excess sebum production stimulated by the male hormone testosterone. Since meat contains hormone-like substances that can affect the body’s hormonal balance, those who eat more meat could be more acne-prone.

Yet another school of thought says that Western diets in general cause more acne, because of their high fat and dairy-rich content. Hmm…come to think of it, I haven’t seen too many Chinese with acne. Is that sentence politically incorrect? Think about it: most Eastern countries live on high-starch diets with a strong base of vegetables and fruits and little meat. That certainly tells me something.

The point is, plenty of fruits and vegetables in your diet may not actually cure acne, but would certainly not aggravate it or trigger an outbreak. For proteins, how about pulses and fish? And water, plenty of water to flush the toxins out. I’m going to try this and report back, so keep reading!

If anyone could find a permanent cure to acne for all types of acne then he would become a millionaire in no time! Well, acne vitamin is a great form of acne treatment and is as close to a permanent solution as can get.

Acne Vitamin A

Vitamin A is absolutely vital for healthy, acne free skin. It helps to restore hormonal balance in the body, thereby reducing acne inflammation. Medical research has proved that those who suffer from acne, especially extreme cases of acne, do not have adequate levels of vitamin A in their bodies. When vitamin A supplements were prescribed to such people, there were reports that their acne had miraculously vanished. In fact, vitamin A may also help to get rid of ugly acne scars. The following foods have high vitamin A content:

• Broccoli
• Carrots
• Spinach
• Peaches
• Kale
• Mangoes
• Apricots

Acne Vitamin E

Vitamin E has very strong antioxidant actions, which means it is highly successful in inhibiting the presence of free oxygen radicals in the body. Free radicals cause a lot of harm to body cells and damage them. Thus, when their numbers are controlled, body cells can rejuvenate and function properly. This increases your skin’s ability to repair itself. Thus acne breakouts are controlled and acne scars are also lessened. Due to these actions of vitamin E, it is considered to be an excellent acne vitamin.

Vitamin E can be taken in supplemental form and also through natural sources such as:

• Sunflower seeds and sunflower oil
• Almonds
• Cottonseed oil
• Frozen turnip greens
• Tomatoes
• Whole grams
• Nuts

Vitamin B6 is also considered to be a good remedy for acne. Apart from acne vitamin, some minerals are also very useful in acne treatment. These are:

1. Zinc: When there is a deficiency of zinc in the body, the production of the male hormone increases. This leads to an increase in the production of skin oils and consequently a fresh case of acne. Thus, by increasing your intake of zinc, you can reduce the presence of male hormones in the blood and improve acne. Zinc also helps to treat acne by fighting the acne causing bacteria in the body. Taking zinc increases the absorption of acne vitamin A and E. Thus, all in all it is an essential mineral for acne prevention.

2. Magnesium: Hormonal imbalance is one of the leading causes of acne, especially in women. Since magnesium helps to regularize the production of hormones and restores their balance, it is an effective remedy for the prevention of acne.

Other minerals for acne treatment are selenium, and chromium. Thus, when the intake of acne vitamin is increased and so is the intake of essential minerals as listed here, it is possible to treat acne once and for all.

Most people who suffer from acne live with it for years on end because they cannot seem to find the right acne treatment for them. In spite of spending hundreds of dollars on acne creams and lotions and acne medications, no permanent relief is available. This is why you should seriously consider natural acne treatment. Not only is it very effective, but does not cost a great deal of money, as most of the natural ingredients are sure to be in your kitchen itself.

Tips For Natural Acne Treatment

• Have a healthy diet. Avoid fatty processed foods, vegetable oil, and foods with high sugar content. Keep your skin hydrated by having at least 8-10 glasses of water everyday.

• Apply virgin organic coconut oil to areas affected with pimples. This may sound like an unlikely cure for acne, but has worked wonders for many. To start with, apply the oil to a small part of your skin only and if the acne clears up, apply to other areas as well.

• Apply a facial mask made out of egg whites. In addition to clearing up acne, this also helps to firm up your skin.

• Garlic is also known to cure acne. Either eat a couple of raw cloves of garlic everyday or add garlic to your foods and salads.

• Use a home made cleanser for natural acne treatment instead of harsh cosmetic ones. To make the natural cleanser, take a bowl of milk (without boiling) and add half-teaspoon limejuice to it. Apply this cleanser on your face with the help of a cotton ball. Wait till it dries up completely and then rinse your face with lukewarm water.

• Make a paste with 2 teaspoons gram flour, half-teaspoon limejuice, a teaspoon of oats, and some cocoa powder. Add water if needed to make a thick paste. Scrub this paste on your face much as you would use an exfoliating scrub. This helps to remove dead skin cells from your face and reduces acne. Use no more than once a week.

• Tone your skin with a toner made from vinegar. Mix one part of regular or apple cider vinegar to eight parts of water. Apply this solution to acne-affected areas and wash after 10 minutes. Regular usage of the toner helps in natural acne treatment and also tightens your skin.

Apart from these home remedies for natural acne treatment, you can also use different natural acne products to clear your skin. By eating a lot of fruits and raw vegetables and drinking plenty of water, you will heal your skin from inside out, which reflects on the outside as acne free skin.
